So, when a strange message was seen by an observant participant in the new raid that was patched in this week the denizens of the TSW Lore forum sprang into action. The message appears on one of the scrolling new feeds on the buildings around Times Square, and simply reads:
What's in a name? 1036X88612-1 X=1
|Kudos to 13Era for the screengrab|
There is an interesting discussion right now on the forums about what this strange message may mean.
Theories so far have lead people to an online photo gallery (which may or may not be genuine, but coincidentally does include so very TSW-like locales). The owner of the gallery has their own website, the Wabi Web. Wabi is a Japanese term for a spiritual concept. And we know that the raid kind of leads to the new Tokyo expansion...
Reference to the Montauk project can also be found in the image above.
Another lines of enquiry include investigating the book X MINUS ONE by Isaac Asimov, a zinc compound, Shakespeare's line from Romeo and Juliet (What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet), and Caesarian cyphers based on the numbers.
Like I said it could all mean nothing. It could be a bunch of overactive imaginations seeing things and patterns where none exist. But this is The Secret World. It's a game that breaks the fourth wall constantly, and Funcom have run alternate reality games based on it before.
So, what's in a name? You can find the whole discussion here.
