Alderaan is peaceful! We have no weapons, you can't possibly...

Yeah, right...

If Alderaan is peaceful then I'm a nerf's backside. A lot must have changed between the time of the Old Republic and A New Hope!

So Merec has finished his adventures on the "peaceful" planet of Alderaan. I have to say this is by far the most beautiful looking planet I've travelled through so far, with some very lush vistas as you journey away from the spaceport. My screenshot hotkey needs replacing after my time on Alderaan!

If only I had a bungee cord...

The storyline on Alderaan is interesting and certainly quite different to the other planets. Rather than getting involved with the war against the Empire the story sees you getting involved in the political machinations of the various noble houses of the planet as they vie for control following the seizure of the throne by Bouris Ulgo. There are some fun encounters along the way, and the final showdown with Ulgo in the Panteer Castle is a memorable one (mainly due to the chance to unleash some heavy ordinance in the shape of shoulder-mounted missile launchers).

Panteer Castle
I really enjoyed the change of scenery and the change of pace afforded by Alderaan. The contrast with Tatooine could not have been greater in look and atmosphere.

Since removing Ulgo from the throne Merec has been back to Nar Shaddaa to complete the bonus quest series and is now moving on to Balmorra. I'm looking forwards to starting his life as an official Republic privateer on the bug-infested planet.

I'll sign off with some more screenshots from my time on Alderaan. Before I go however a quick note that I may not be posting for a couple of weeks as I have to go to South Africa for a fortnight with work. It's a hard life!

How did I get up here?

Ahh, by Thranta Air!

Those mountains look good for skiing.

  2. You'll love Tatooine I reckon. Much more open than the other planets.

Typing this on the balcony in Jo'burg sipping my chardonnay in the sun. It's a hard life!
