Farewell EQ2, it's been a blast!

As I predicted last month, my time in EQ2 has drawn to a close, and I logged out for the last time this evening. I've had an on-off-and-on-again relationship with the game over the last 7 years, but my last year in the game has left me both impressed with the progress made during my absence, and fearful for the future of the game as it moves to a free-to-play model in the shadow of SWTOR.

So, farewell then EQ2. One of the best MMOs out there, with a thriving and generally friendly community. I wish you well.

I'd also like to thank Acolytes of Valor for making the last year so enjoyable. Hopefully I'll see some of you again in new lands.

For my part I'll be spending the next few weeks continuing to beta test before the launch of The Old Republic.

  1. I have really enjoyed the last 12+ months of you being back in EQ2. You have in that time achieved a huge amount with Merecraft. It doesn't seem two minutes ago that Udrath and Mere were noobies and questing in G/Fay. Then at around leve 55 mere was acheieving so much so fat, I decided to drop uddy and start using Volt to duo with you..and Mere just flew thruogh the content, but at a speed where you get to enjoy it.

I recall fun times like taking you in The Estate of Unrest for the first time, or duoing raid zones together, to doing the simple city quests so we could get tokens for our door house items lol. Then there were great questlines like the Claymore, your Epic then Myth and countless HQs. There have been a lot of fun times and now that my time is drawing to a close in EQ2 also, it's nice that I got to spend a majority of the last year of it with Mere. Sometimes I'll remember something though and I'll be like 'Oh, he never got to see the level 80 Runnyeye:The Gathering instance'.

Thanks mate. fond memories..now I'm looking forward to reading your SWTOR review.
