Merecraft's Mansion

I've spoken about the housing system in EQ2 before (TL;DR - it's the best housing system I've come across in an MMO). Well with the most recent game update, GU61 The War of Zek, they have added a new housing rating system, allowing those with much more skill and time than me to show off their houses and compete with a leaderboard system.

As well as the housing leaderboards a small but great new function was also added to the game - the ability to record in-game movies and automatically upload them to YouTube. It's simplicity itself to make in-game movies now, just by clicking the record button on the UI.

So I took the opportunity to play around with it and make a quick video of Merecraft's mansion house in EQ2. I've embedded it below, but you can click through to get to the 720p HD version.

  1. Excellent! Not tried the in game video yet. Must give that a go.

  2. The house is lovely btw. Liking the Fish tank especially and the Shrine to Tunare.

    You need some teleporter pads!

  3. OK, so how do you use the video capture? When do you get to edit your video, or does it just get sent straight to youtube? For example, I noticed yours seemed to have a few 'cuts' and some text added.

  4. I think it's CTRL-Y (or maybe ALT-Y) to open up the video capture window. Then just start recording and stop when you like. You can also set the resolution quality.
Once you click stop a new window opens giving you the option to upload to YouTube, but I closed that and edited the video manually in Windows Live Movie Maker (free app).

  5. Gotcha. Thanks Bro. I know all about that. I use WMM when making my Bangers n Mash productions. I just wasn't sure if it was an option in game, or if you had used third party software. Easy peasy now I know. Cheers mate!
